European researchers respond to implementation of ‘Plan S’ on Open Access

Three big European organisations for early-career and senior researchers have jointly issued a response to ‘Plan S’ on Open Access. Reassuring their support, they offer concrete recommendations on the proposed guidance for achieving Open Access via Plan S to ensure its realistic implementation from the perspective of European researchers.

Never heard of Plan S?

Plan S is an initiative for Open Access publishing that was launched in September 2018. The plan is supported by cOAlition S, an international consortium of research funders. Plan S requires that, from 2020, scientific publications that result from research funded by public grants must be published in compliant Open Access journals or platforms.
